Berks Technical Institute's career training begins with lecture and hands-on classes that address hardware and software fundamentals. Building upon the hardware and software basics, students will acquire the networking knowledge that they will use to explore the various aspects of putting together and administrating Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks.
Students will also participate in class lectures and hands-on training with various versions of the Windows, Linux, and Novell Netware network operating systems and TCP/IP connectivity with routers and switches. The students’ skill set is further enhanced with course training in Computer Logic and Script Writing; Microsoft Visual BASIC; Help Desk and User Support Concepts; Network Planning, Design, and Implementation and Network Security. The INE capstone program classes help the student prepare to pursue the MSCE Certification. These courses include Mail Server, Active Directory, Designing Network Security, and Network Infrastructure.
The INE program is designed to develop a well-rounded computer technician able to start in various entry-level career positions in the IT field and also to equip our graduates to be lifelong learners who are able to adapt and advance in this ever-changing field.

Networking is currently one of the fastest growing and in-demand occupations, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupation Outlook Handbook, 2008. The Internet/Network Engineering training program at BTI will prepare students for a career in these occupations through intensive hands-on training with instructors with workplace experience. The curriculum changes to meet the needs and requirements of employers in the real world. Courses are taught to prepare the student for certification testing, such as MCSE Certification. |
